speech

Griffin is generally pretty articulate, but he does have a few speech errors. Some are kind of cute- like saying "fink" for "think" and "banilla" for "vanilla". Some we still have to work on. Today he was drawing and he said, "Mom, look at this field that I drew. Isn't it fagulous?". Gotta work on that one:)

Long visit

The look on Gray's face says it all. The boys and I just got back from a week visiting Mimi and Papa and Great Grandma in Tupelo, and we are all still tired from the trip. It was a fun week visiting with family and friends. We saw Sherrie and Kim in Memphis. Then Aunt Allie and Adam, and Uncle Andy and Aunt Sydney came to see us in Tupelo. We ate a lot of food and relaxed a bit. We even had gelato on our last day. Gray loved the chocolate gelato.

Here is Griffin giving Aunt Allie a big kiss. He went on another jog with Allison's boyfriend, , Adam in the neighborhood. Adam was a very good sport to hang out with the boys.

I finally found a Tennessee hat for Griffin. Although he informed me that he "already has a Colts hat". So I am not sure how much use it will get, but he looks cute.
A few shots of Kim and I in her new house. It was beautiful, and the boys had a great time playing with her son, Caleb.
Gray had a wonderful time spending his mornings with Great Grandma.
There is a park near my parents' house that has a sprayground area. The boys had a great time running around. They also fed the ducks around the lake one afternoon.

Here is Griffin with his Mimi. He had a great time and is already asking when he gets to go back to Mississippi.

Going for a jog

On Sunday Brent was going for a jog and Griffin REALLY wanted to go with him. So they went together. Here they are stretching beforehand.
Griffin is ready to go. And they are off!

They went a whole block and came back to drop Griffin off. Unfortunately Brent underestimated Griffin's endurance because he was NOT tired when he got back. He was pretty upset when his Daddy kept going for a longer fun. He even ran back and forth on our sidewalk to prove how not tired he really was.

Soccer and a Picnic

Today was Griffin's first day of pee wee soccer for the season. He wasn't too excited about it but he threw less of a fit than last year. I think he thought he was going to SCOR where he took an indoor soccer camp that had a big inflatable playset. That trumps playing soccer outside where it is hot and sticky any day. Mason (from playgroup) was even less thrilled to be starting soccer today.
A few action shots of Griffin playing.

His favorite part of the game is the water break.
This afternoon Kaleigh came over to our house for a playdate. They both insisted on wearing their hats and having a picnic. Too cute.

Little sweetheart

Today when I gave Griffin a cup of juice, he said, "Mom, that sure was sweet of you to ask me if I wanted some juice. I think I'll keep you". I guess I will keep you too. That's my little sweetheart (this week anyway).

Gray's First Day

Today was Gray's first day of parent's morning out up at church. He will go every Tuesday from 9 until 12. He cried when I first dropped him off but then he was fine. His teachers, Miss Lynn and Miss Laura, were very sweet. When I picked him up, they kept talking about how much they loved him and his hair (you hear that, Brent?) with his curls. Apparently Gray played very nicely with a little boy named Ryan and his class has almost all boys this year. I only got a few pictures because our camera was dead. This is what happens when your 4 year old wants to take pictures and leaves the camera on.

If you can't find your 4 year old...

If you can't find your 4 year old first thing in the morning, he is probably hiding in the bathroom eating cool whip right out of the tub. Or maybe that is just what seems to happen at our house:)

Framed at the Children's Garden

I took the kids to the Children's Garden yesterday to kill some time. The pool is closed but it is still hot, so we needed to do something. They have a frame that is standing up and you can get a cool picture of the landscaping. Here's the frame and I tried to get Griffin in the picture but he is kind of short to make it really work.
The boys love the different huts and houses that they can explore. They played drums, swept the houses, and just ran around.

It got so hot that the kids ran around in the water play area for awhile. Gray liked climbing up on the benches. Climbing is his new favorite past time.
Here is Griffin showing off his muscles (or ribs depending on how you look at it).

1st Day of Preschool

Griffin had a time to meet his new preschool teacher on Wednesday. It was kind of weird because he decided (and announced to everyone in the room) that he was "shy" that day. So he wouldn't step more than a few feet into the class or say "hi" to his teacher. Thursday was his first day of school and it went much better. He walked in no problem and was very talkative to Ms Dickinson, his new teacher. I took some pics at our house and in the classroom.

Painting with my brother

It started out innocently enough with Gray wanting to copy his older brother.
We stripped them both down and let them finger paint at their picnic table.
Gray REALLY got into it and was happy as a clam.

Last Pool Day

Happy Labor Day! We took the kids to the pool today and had a great time. The weather was warm but not too hot. Our pool had a big party with food and beer. It was such a relaxing morning. Gray let us put the floaties on him for the first time this summer. He had fun playing with Daddy.Over the past two weeks or so, Griffin has finally gotten the hang of swimming. During his private lessons, he spent the majority of the time negotiating with his teacher over which pool to swim in, whether or not to use goggles, and if he needed to go to the bathroom. It felt like a huge waste of money. But during his last lesson, he finally let go of the wall and actually did some true swimming. Since that day he has practiced a lot on his own and loves jumping in off the side and swimming to the ladder. He is also trying to use our camera more and more. Most of the time he gets lots of random shots but here is one of me that he got at the pool yesterday. It is so hard to believe that summer is finally wrapping up. I am ready for school to start back up so we can get in a routine. Our summer pool days are over.

Last but not least, some video of Griffin jumping in the pool and swimming to the side.
